Quad Fuels Supplying Fuel to Conwy Culture Centre Project

Quad Fuels are supporting local construction companies in the completion of work on the new £3.7m Conwy Culture Centre; located on the old site of Bodlondeb School in Conwy. The Quad team are always proud to support local companies through supplying the fuel for crucial local projects.

The Conwy Culture Centre is set to open in autumn 2019, and it will feature a new area library, heritage hub, arts & community space, archive and café. It will contain 80,000 documents and 1,000 objects from the local authority’s archive and museum collections. In keeping with the Conwy area, the single storey building will have a green roof, in order to blend into Bodlondeb Park’s leafy surroundings.

As the new home for the county’s archive, the centre will become a gateway to the story of Conwy. The historic archives are an invaluable tool in learning about county heritage; it allows people to connect with their past in a way that they haven’t been able to before. It will be staffed with experienced and friendly team members – with interpretation in BSL, Welsh, and English as part of a new Trilingual project. Visitors to the centre can enjoy a nice coffee in the café, whilst appreciating the stunning backdrop of Conwy.

Councillor Chris Hughes, Conwy’s Cabinet Member for Communities, said that the centre would help develop the town’s “heritage offer”. Conwy is a town with impressive cultural significance, the historic town walls and castle are only a couple of big draws to the town, the new culture centre will certainly be another.

The huge project has received funding from a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Welsh Government Transformation Capital Grant Programme; capital funding, funding from the Rural Community Development Fund, Gwynt y Mor funding in partnership with the Conwy Arts Trust and the sale of buildings from Conwy County Borough Council.
